According to the US Federal Government Statistics the Chinese tourist is the biggest spender compared to other countries.
They spend 21% more per person than the tourists from other countries. At present the average Chinese tourist spends 5,400
US per trip. Consequently the US is trying to better accommodate them by providing services in Mandarin like CCTV in the
hotels as well as hot water pots in the hotel rooms. Europe has also tried to attract the Chinese tourist but the USA still holds
the most attraction for the Chinese with California and New York being their favorite destinations. Many other places would

don’t have anything in Chinese. I took a small group into the Prado museum in Madrid. The guided tours were in all languages
even Japanese but nothing was in Mandarin. Fortunately my mother is an artist and we basically lived in the museum for
three weeks with my mother giving us the history of each painting. At the time I didn’t appreciate it but as an Adult I was able
to give a well informed guided tour of the major Spanish Artists and their works. One might ask why the Coach pocketbooks
are so popular in China. In my little State of Delaware that has no sales tax and only a population of 800,000 people in the
whole state, the Coach store was the only one who had a full time Chinese speaker. I took my Chinese Colleagues there to
buy. I was shocked when we were trying to decide which purse his wife would like when a young tall Anglo Saxon looking
man answered us in excellent Mandarin. That was five years ago. In Madrid the famous Corte Ingles at least has one Chinese
Speaker in each store that can be called for emergencies. It is still not as successful as Coach who has the Chinese Speaker
right on the sales floor. The Coach has prepared for the Chinese speaker and is reaping the financial benefits.
